The campaign will include a virtual tour feat. Stacey Abrams, influencers, and key elected officials from the South, Midwest, Northeast, and Southwest
ATLANTA — Today, Fair Fight Action, the voting rights organization founded by Stacey Abrams, launched its Hot Call Summer campaign to help educate and mobilize young voters of color and young progressives around HR 1/S 1, theFor the People Act. The campaign will last throughout the month of June and will include a three-stop regional virtual tour featuring Fair Fight Action Founder Stacey Abrams, federal and state elected officials, influencers, voters, and election workers.
The Hot Call Summer campaign aims to drive daily phone calls to U.S. Senators from every state in the weeks leading up to the Senate vote on theFor the People Act. Fair Fight Action is also launching a national digital media buy aimed at urging voters to contact their senators, and the group plans to text over 10 million voters in the 2022 battleground states that have seen anti-voter bills pushed in state legislatures.
“Despite facing massive voter suppression, young progressives and voters of color voted in record numbers in 2020. But as a result of their historic turnout last year, anti-voter politicians across the country—from Secretaries of State to Attorneys General to state legislators—are attempting to strip away their freedom to vote. These attacks are an existential threat to our democracy, and exactly why we need Senators to pass the For the People Act,” said Fair Fight Action Organizing Director Hillary Holley. “This moment has never been more urgent, and we need Congress to act NOW because the freedom to vote is inextricably linked to the freedom to live. Voters in red, blue, and purple states want jobs with liveable wages, criminal justice reform, student debt relief, and more. But without the freedom to vote that is simply not achievable. The purpose of Hot Call Summer is to ensure that every single U.S. Senator is hearing from their constituents daily on the urgent need to pass S 1.”
