Voting Rights Group Will Engage Grassroots Supporters to Contact Governor* Kemp and Tell Him to Veto HB 316 and HB 481
ATLANTA – Today, Fair Fight released a new TV and digital ad reminding Brian Kemp and statehouse leaders that they work for Georgians. The ad calls on Georgians to text GA to 70700, which will prompt Georgians to contact Brian Kemp and urge him to veto House Bill 316 and House Bill 481.
“The guy who pointed a gun at a teenager during the campaign has become a reckless governor* who tramples on women’s rights and voters’ rights,” said Fair Fight CEO Lauren Groh-Wargo. “Whether it’s effectively ending a woman’s right to choose or wasting $200 million on faulty voting machines, Brian Kemp has shown that he can’t be trusted with the power of the governorship. HB 316 and HB 481 have made clear what kind of leader he wants to be: one who puts his well-connected lobbyist buddies and the far fringes of his party ahead of Georgians. But we won’t stop fighting; we will use every tool at our disposal to protect Georgians from Brian Kemp’s harmful agenda.”
House Bill 316 is a bill that would further voter suppression in Georgia and waste $200 million or more in taxpayer dollars to purchase hackable voting machines from for-profit companies with deep insider connections to state government officials. House Bill 481 would ban abortion in the state of Georgia before a pregnancy is even known. It is the most restrictive legislation in the country and would threaten Georgia’s economy if film industry projects move to states that respect women’s rights.

VOICEOVER: Georgia lawmakers. They’re hoping we’ll forget. Forget when they trampled on women’s rights. Forget about the money they tried to take from our children’s schools. Forget that their faulty voting machines don’t guarantee that our votes will be counted. But we won’t forget, or stop fighting for a fairer Georgia. So let’s remind them that they work for us.
