ATLANTA – Today, the Senate will vote on HB 481, an abortion ban that will exacerbate Georgia’s maternal mortality crisis and harm Georgia’s economy.
Fair Fight Founder and Chair Stacey Abrams released the following statement:
“Currently in our state legislature we are seeing the real consequences of unfair elections. While Georgia battles a maternal health crisis, the Senate is poised to vote on an egregious abortion ban bill opposed by medical professionals that would be both a moral and economic scourge on our state. If women’s rights are stripped away, half our potential workforce may think twice before deciding to live and work in Georgia. They have raised their voices in protest – but too many of our leaders are not listening. Business leaders, elected officials, and other allies must continue to fight for free elections so that every voice is heard and heeded by our state’s leaders.”
The Medical Association of Georgia has vocally opposed the bill.
