Voting Rights Leaders Hold Press Conference to Protest Georgia Election Board’s Reckless 2024 Chaos Plan

Atlanta – Today, voting rights leaders and a former election official will hold a press conference to protest the Georgia State Election Board’s reckless plan to sow chaos around the 2024 election. After changing Georgia’s election certification rules in ways that give new power to local election officials to refuse to certify our election results, the MAGA Election Board members are now considering changing election rules in ways that seem meant to create a fail point in our system.

One rule change being considered tomorrow during today's Election Board meeting, put forward by Republican party activist, and election denier Sharlene Alexander, adds unnecessary burdens on our election process, raises the potential for disruption, and increases workloads on overworked poll workers.

RSVP for the press conference here.

Reports have revealed months of email coordination between Georgia State Election Board member Dr. Janice Johnston, local Georgia election officials who support Trump’s Big Lie, and MAGA election deniers. The email correspondence reveals a secret effort to rewrite Georgia election certification rules. The emails build on other reports that show direct coordination between Election Board members and Georgia Republican Party leaders, Republican National Committee operatives, and Trump-connected election deniers, even some that supported his failed attempts to steal the 2020 election.
